Hmmm, I smell an update. First pieces of Factions are being loaded. The link above lists some of the things we'll see during this weekend's beta event, and some other game changes. For example, when a party leader uses the map to travel, the entire party will now go with her. Nice. And here's something I know Asya has been longing for: "The location and visibility of hint popup windows can now be modified using the Customize Layout interface."

The login screen is really cool. Nice to have something pretty to look at instead of a camp in burned ascalon.
I was tooo curious, so I signed on. The PVP areas are all different with a new Temple of Balthazar as the starting point. And there's an area with "Nameless" trainers and students that I think is supposed to be for pvp practice.
Also, the Priests of Balthazar have icons for Ritualist and Assassin but no skills listed yet. Didn't see any upgrades for new types of weapons either.
No more exploration, back to work for me!

Oooh, and the login screen is ZOOMABLE and ROTATABLE. I zoomed out and rotated to look at all the scenary and some of the animation is really neat. Just let it sit there for a few mins and enjoy the view.

I'm at work too. I installed GW on my work PC. I only play it during breaks or when it's really slow here.

Could a level 3 in Asc City, simply be teleported to LA, Denravi, Oasis, and Droks in 30 secs with the appropriate party member? Someone please test this ASAP and report the results... (Off to Guild Hall to see exactly how this works...)

X, here is what Sollo and I found: "Your party members can't travel there. Would you like to leave them behind?"

It looks like you can go to the hall of heroes now in PvE tombs. Just a matter of a few lvl 28 Ghost Riders and Dryders in your way. Not to mention the Chained Souls who seem to do nothing but Rend Enchantments.

I took a few minutes before getting ready for work this morning to roll an assassin/ritualist. The new character generation screens seem a little awkward, with too many extra mouse clicks, but I do like the palettes for selecting aspects of your character's appearance.
Landed in the Nameless Isle with nothing but weapons and a rez sig. I'm a newborn baby! With daggers!

I rolled both an Assassin and a Ritualist this morning just to take a look at them and I HATE HATE HATE the way the femail assassin looks. She's absolutely anorexic and the armor is TERRIBLE. What self respecting assassin outside of video games and movies would go around in bra and skirt. A really plain and boring bra and skirt at that. Your ability to sneak around would be severely hampered with that much skin showing, not to mention the lack of protection. I was hoping for something more along the lines of rogues attire. This is just dumb. Ah well. I'm sure others will love it. Perhaps it'll grow on me.
That said, I like the ritualists look and the skills seem appropriately complicated. Guess I'll be playing a ritualist this weekend. Maybe a ritualist/ranger to explore the beastmastery possibilities.

What self respecting assassin outside of video games and movies would go around in bra and skirt. Only after I shaved my legs and chest. But I agree, all the female armor in this game looks a bit...scarce.

Ah well. I'm sure others will love it. Just a bra and a skirt is a bad thing? p.s. no I'm not twelve, I just act that way. ;D

You know the bra and skirt wouldn't be so awful if she at least looked good in them. But I don't think she does at all.
In general, I feel like the devs are forgetting that nearly half of all gamers are women. So in order to appeal to everyone, they need to have some character/armor options that don't look like underwear. It's my only really big pet peeve with this game-appearance and armor are incredibly sexist! Bah!
Ok enough ranting. I'm just a little tired of picking my armor based on not wanting to look naked more than on stats. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the new armor for existing classes will have that possibility.

I know how you feal. I hated the Galdiator armor for the male warrior. I did not like my man booby hanging out. So I switched armor even though I really wanted the energy boost. However I fixed it by switching to a female character. I know women don't like playing men characters so that probabl ydoesn't help. I agree they should have options and should cater to both genders. However, I'm not sure that women make up half the players of games. I think the 13 - 21 males are still the most. However I may be mistaken. I think our guild probably has more women than most and is probably a little more on the mature side (age wise anyway) than most guilds. Again I have no data to back up my statement and would love to see what the breakdowns are.

The male gladiator armor does make me giggle. Man boobies--ha! In retrospect, I should've made my mesmer a guy, but you're right, I'm just not inclined to play male characters for some reason. And the male mesmer armor is SO much better than the women's nightie or victorian gown. I can't remember where I pulled the gaming statistic about women. I THOUGHT it was from an NPR report, but I could be wrong. What I remember was that about 40% of the gamers now are women and the average gamer now is more like 35 than 20 years old. Obviously, without anything to back it up, those numbers mean nothing. Hopefully someone will read this and back me up. We should start a "To Gaile from the Girls" thread on one of the forums. Or, if Inda IS Gaile as Xaja contends, then I suppose she already knows my 2 cents.

I definitely think our guild has more women than the norm, and that's a good thing. More women gamers and there'll be less need for sites like this. LoV has no female members that I'm aware of. A BBC report says that women make up 39% of all gamers. Inda = Gaile: If that were true surely she would have gotten us all into the Alpha test group by now!

I wish I was Gaile -- I would <3 that job soooo much but alas no such luck. Hmmmm maybe if I take her out in arenas I could apply for her vacancy?

Oh My God! What shall I do?... too much input *twitch, twitch Go start a new char? which one??? Keep working on my faction?...8000 something now. Go deeper into New Underworld? only got through first lvl last night. To top things off, Phearless is phurios over the prospect of possibly being deleted for a sneaky little back stabing assasin. Cassy keeps crying "You haven't even finished me yet !" Diana wont talk to me and poor Red has been so schitzed from all his changes in the past I fear he can't handle another one *Twitch, twitch

Xaja should know about Gaile since he is stalking her. As far as women making up 39% of gamers, I wonder which ones? My wife only plays solitare. Does that count?

Playing some in the beta tonight I was frustrated by the fact that I could never quite zoom out enough to take in the views of the gorgeous new scenery. Does anyone else find GW to be a bit claustraphobic in that respect? By comparison, games like Half-life 2 feel much more open. Oh, to have a 24" widescreen LCD...

I definitely think our guild has more women than the norm, and that's a good thing. There are several guilds out there that have a good female base. Sisterhood of the Broken Wing and ULGG have their share of female Charr killers. Back on topic. The update: I'm a little underwelmed by the areas Anet gave us to explore with the new classes. Also they could do better on the PvP "missions". Team arena against henchies isn't my idea of a mission. The assassin skills are kind of weak atm. I tried to solo a warrior in the training area, and couldn't do enough damage. Flag running with the assissin will be awsome. They did an excellent job on the graphics. Tombs is pretty cool with those octopus arms. The training area is kind of neat. The new slant on Asian based characters is interesting. I wonder if it is to appeal to the grown Asian player base.

Finally got my hands on the February issue of Computer Gaming World, the one that has the Factions preview. There's a two-page spread that lists some of the new skills for the original classes, and it shows examples of some the nice new armor options we'll have upon release. I'm looking forward to getting out of this heavy Druid's armor coat...

Not really sure what they did in the update last night but I got my skill point while I was still at 98% of getting my next skill point. Also, it seemed very lagy the entire time I played last night. A very dangerous thing in UW.

Glad to hear others were experiencing some lag as well, as I thought it was just me. Also Anet, just missed the mark on the tooltip skill bar. It no longer covers health and energy; however, it still shows us over other things that may be in that area, like foe and skill foe is using.
