Has anyone heard if the pre-order items will be like they were for the First Chapter (where you get a different item for pre-ordering at different stores) ? Just wondering if I am gonna want to buy the pre-order at least from a couple of different places

Regarding Pre-ordering, is this something special you have to go into the store to get or can I use the pre-order function on, say, Best Buy's web site?

According to guildwiki.org, it has been confirmed that owners of both Prophecies (the new name used to refer to the original Guild Wars) and Factions will have a combined total of six character slots. A standalone Factions account will have only four.

Did everyone see the new guildwars.com homepage. Pre-order details finally confirmed. Nothin' about collectors tho and no details about the in game items. They list six retailers on the site. Prices either $39.99 or $49.99.

The NORTH AMERICAN PRE-ORDER INCLUDES:
* A key that provides access to the Factions Preview Event on March 24th * Access to Guild Wars Factions twenty-four hours before the official release date * Exclusive in-game items—one unique item for each of the two new professions * A "friend" key that gives one of your friends access to the Factions Preview Event on March 24th * A 14-day, 10-hour trial of Guild Wars (original Prophecies campaign) * A tactical guide * A quick-reference card * A CD that includes concept art, wallpapers, and in-game trailers
From the bolded statement above, each pre-order comes with 2 ingame items, 1 for Ritualist, 1 for Assassin. Or at least thats how I am reading it...

It does not say if the unique items are different for where you preorder that I can tell......

Asya tells me that a thread on TGH says the pre-order will be on shelves on 3/3, but that some say it won't be at BB until 3/7.

My EB games also was clueless about Factions. I walked in and and said: 'I want 2 Factions pre-order boxes please.' Teen working the counter: 'What?' Me: 'Guildwars Factions pre-orders, website says they hit the stores today.' Teen: Taping into computer 'It's in our system, will be on shelves April 28th, you can reserve it now if you want.' Me: (ignoring the 28th date as that's not confirmed by Anet). 'No thanks, I want the box for the extras.' Teen: (looks around behind the counter) 'We don't seem to have any, please check back later.'
Freaking worthless....

I logged onto the pre-order web sites listed on guildwars.com and tried to order from 3 of the 6 links:
1. CompUSA. The link led to their standard home page. A thorough search of the site produced no sign of Guild Wars Factions in any way, shape, or form.
2. Best Buy. The link brought up a page displaying Guild Wars: Factions. Clicking the "Pre-Order" button allowed me to place my order. The result is vague, but I get the impression that it'll ship April 28. No mention at all of any "Pre-Order Package"
3. Amazon.com. The link brought up a page displaying Guild Wars: Factions. Same as Best buy, I clicked the "Pre-Order" button and placed an order for 3. Confirmation email specifically says ship date is April 28. Not one word of any "Pre-Order Package".
I'm going to be somewhat less that pleased if I spent nearly $200 and don't get my pre-order packages...

Sollo, I'm pretty sure you pre-ordered the final release of GW:F, but you did not order Pre-Order GW:F packages. I would cancel all of those orders if I were you, and go buy them in the store next week or whenever they appear on the shelves. As usual, Anet has stumbled a bit in their handling of this. They should have done a better job of coordinating with their retailers on the shelf date of the pre-order package.

I think I agree. I just cancelled all 4 orders and will stop by in person to check on it.
ANet definately seems to be stumbling on this. It's totally unclear how the process works and the stores do not appear to be set up for it...

Well Anet implys they thought the boxes would be on shelves for the 28th (why do games always hit on a Tuesday?). Thus, this may be a shipping error, a store error, or Anet's/NCSoft's error. Ultimately, if I get my preorder box eventally, I'm happy.

Do you need the pre order box to play the factions preview event?
|
|
|
Post by Eldarion on Mar 2, 2006 8:30:56 GMT -5
No, you don't, since you already own Guild Wars. However, the pre-order box contains an extra "friend" key that gives one of your friends access to the preview event. That's all I was referring to. Each of us already have three "friend" keys per account anyway, so I guess it doesn't really matter. (Unless you have a LOT of friends who don't have GW already. ) I guess the only real deadline is getting the pre-order box at least 24 hours before release, so we can take part in the early access.

mmog.onlinewelten.com/index.php?type=special&area=1&p=articles&id=135&pp=&sort=desc&artpage=3#contentboxNew article linked off GWGuru. Lot of interesting stuff. Among it: What about the new guild halls and guild members who do not get faction. Will they be able to join the new guildhalls, too? Will non-faction guilds be able to upgrade their guildhalls? There will be four new guildhalls available in Factions. These are available to all guilds, and access to them does not require participation in Alliance Battles or Competitive Missions. In addition, guilds will be able to buy services for their guild halls, including: Xunlai Agent Dye Trader Crafting Material Trader Rare Material Trader Rune Trader Scroll Trader Skill Trainer Priest of Balthazar Merchant Weaponsmith and What is the structure of an alliance going to be like? Will there be certain lead players or guilds? An alliance takes on the name/emblem of its lead guild. Indeed, technically any guild not in an alliance is an alliance of one. The leader of the lead guild is the alliance leader. He can invite new guilds and kick out guilds that in the alliance. Guild leaders of member guilds can withdraw their guild from the alliance.

There will be a *major* update within the next 24 hours, as well as new info added to the Factions FAQ...
*Factions will be on around March 7-10...it was SHIPPED the 28th. *The CE is global
Some possible things that were NOT disproven: *name changes to characters without killing them *hair changes to characters without killing them *facial changes to characters without killing them *Fan Site Friday might return because Gaile wants it back *Ogres might exist in the game
I'll try to update this more if interesting things come up, but so far people are just asking the same boring/dumbass questions that we already know *sigh for dumb people*
*If you add Factions to Prophecies you get 6 characters *The stand-alone Prophecies & Factions has 4 characters

From Gaile over at IGN:
Since most stores do a Tuesday release, I'm guessing we really won't see it until 3/7.

Ultimately, if I get my preorder box eventally, I'm happy. The official website now states, "Local retailers should have their copies of the Guild Wars Factions Pre-Order Pack on shelves starting about March 7th." I haven't been on in a while, but rest assured I'll be returning with the new content... see you all on the 24th if not sooner... ;D

Welcome back Dreamsmith!
The update referenced earlier in this thread is linked off the GW website. Lots of skill changes (buffs to most pet skills among other things) Iway no longer triggers off dead "minions." Minion=pet???
Juicy anti-farming one: Kepkhet Marrowfeast, Queen of the Scarabs, has brought her brood to the desert, drawn by the plentiful corpses of griffon, minotaur, and even other scarabs. The insect brood now infests the "Prophets Path," so travelers be warned!

Nah, IWAY still works on pets. Yeah, they've tweaked a lot. Gale now costs 10. Boo. Crippling shot now costs 15!! BOOO!!

Offering of blood, which I JUST CAPPED, now sacs 20% health. I think that's too much for a monk. BOOO!
But, pet skills buffed=YAY! Shadowstrike would love to be more than a meat shield.
Mesmer buffs are nice too.

Shadowstrike would love to be more than a meat shield. I'm sorry to say, but in my fiddlings with the new skills I saw that the rangers still do a lot more damage with a bow then a hearty pet or elder pet, not sure about aggresive or dire. So it's not a ton ton better, not that I know of at least.

Crippling shot now costs 15!! BOOO!! Remember that ranger's expertise will drop that cost- although I'm not really familiar with exactly how much it would drop. (5 energy I think) Offering of blood, which I JUST CAPPED, now sacs 20% health. I think that's too much for a monk. BOOO! I think it was 17% before which isnt all that large of a change. Plus, its better for monks who can use healing touch or other fun self heals.
