LOL, Ronin. Apparently, I am not padawan material since I cannot figure out whether I'll need a key or not. Failed the first trial I have.

And brilliant news:
Gaile said in TGH that any skills unlocked using faction for assassin and ritualist will be available as soon as factions launches.
Anyone think they can get about 200k faction in a weekend and UAS before the game starts? I'm gonig for it.

Any word on skills unlocked the old fashioned way? I prefer to be able to say that I've UAS with experience only

Some tidbits from Gaile via the TGH forums...
On the PvP-focus of the BWE:
The focus of the event is PvP, yes. But it's different. I wouldn't want even the "100% Cooperative/PvE player" to miss this, honestly.
What's that you say? An event including more PvE soon? Why, what a sterling idea!
On the assassin and ritualist skills we'll get:
You will get a group of starter skills, but skills will play out in a similar way to what might be expected in normal gaming. But stop and think how much people will undoubtedly be playing during those three days, and consider how many skills could be unlocked in that number of hours. I think it's a good sampling, and it's the best presentation of the characters and the skills.
On character creation:
Your [existing] characters will be there, if you use your regular account. You can use the access key to start a new account, but if you want to keep the unlocks, Fame, and Faction you earn, use a PvP character slot and simply make a non-Assassin or non-Ritualist after the event. Assassin or Ritualist skills you unlock will remain in your inventory (inaccessible, of course) until the release of Guild Wars: Factions. And sorry, no, there will not be an extra slot for the event. Most players have a PvP character slot, so that's what we're suggesting for use during this is a PvP event.
On the rumor that we will only get one additional character slot in the final release:
We will post when we have reached a final decision on this. The article in question was written a month ago (for print) and the ultimate decision actually has not been made.

Cool that we'll get to keep whatever we unlock. And that we'll earn faction during the event too. Fun!

So don't create a new account or you will lose all the stuff you unlock.

Inda, those islands south of the GH island are on my map from May of last year. I can't seem to find anything new on the big map. What the heck was in tonight's update?

What the heck was in tonight's update? were they? dang I was convinced they were new...hmmm well the update had new NPCs in LA, Tombs, and arena areas that I know of...the new henchies in the tombs wouldn't let the old henchies near the entrance and the old ones were complaining about it. I will say the new henchies had some pretty nice armor as well. There were "acolytes" in the arenas talking about "single combat" if you are strong enough. hmmmmmm

Updated the new skill info elsewhere.... I guessed which attribute the skill belonged to, and added the new professions....

Another preview article. Not a lot of new info, but it has some really cool screenshots. "Personally, I want to slay the dragon."

Try those tears, Spirit! Anet has confirmed that guild storage will be in the final release. It's just not here quite yet. Edit to avoid a double-post: Anet has posted a Factions FAQ. This bit caught my eye: So, if you own more than one GW account, be prepared to shell out some extra bucks.
