How about a request for a tip? Is there an easy way to skip directly to new messages here? Yeah here's a tip...don't double post If you look at the forum page the new threads will have a blue color next to the folder image indicating that there are new messages. When you enter that specific forum, you'll see which messages are new because they will be toward the top and have that same blue dot next to the folder image. And for really confused people, if you look at the bottom of all the pages there is an image key that tells you what the friggin icons are. New messages are at the end of the thread, hence the increasing number of pages on certain threads. You can click on the last page number to get to the newer messages. Just as well they are all dated, so you can figure out what you have not read yet. Now your only excuse for dumbness would be: 1. You're color blind 2. You have images turned off. 3. You have no idea what day it is and can't bother to read the post dates.

One addition however--at times proboards will glitch and will show some items as "new" which are in actuality old..don't know why-- Oh and if you stay logged on it won't show the new items until you actually go into the specific forum area.... There are a couple of different "themes" you can pick from your member profile that may help people better distinguish between items...but that's a theory...don't know if it actually works. but at least it is a free forum system

How about a request for a tip? Is there an easy way to skip directly to new messages here? So far it appears that the only way to know if I've read something is to re-read everything and see what looks familair... At the bottom of the main forum page there is a link to the 10 most recient posts. This displays the 10 most recient posts non in the password protected areas.

Don't mind morbs RubyKnight. She has not had enough red meat lately.
I know how frustrating trying to get used to the boards. Especailly if a lot of posting is going on.
Also the BGN area does not show a blue dot unless you have checked it recently and entered the password. (not an issue for you know but maybe later).
What I did when I first started was go into each group and mark everything read and start from there.

Ms. Eclipse: Try to remember that not everyone that's new is stupid. The interface is very "busy" and somewhat overwhelming until one gets used to it.
Aside from that, thank you everyone. The fog has cleared somewhat and recognizable shapes are forming...

Ms. Eclipse: Try to remember that not everyone that's new is stupid. Oh believe me, I know. There is no such thing as absolutes when dealing with people anyway.

Any good tips for those of us who haven't started playing the update yet? Don't bother buying chest keys. The contents aren't worth the cost of the keys. Just wait for monsters to drop them and use those keys instead.

In your inventory place a quest item or some such thing that can't be3 sold to a merchant. Put anythign you don't want to accidently sell behind this item in sell order. This will prevent you from accidently selling something by mistake or do to a lag sell.

Very nice tip. I do that to protect my salvage and ID kits.
