wow, thats a really nice build somebody thought up. im not so sure they should be making them weaker just to credit the creativity. however, i do understand that some changes need to be made.

Just adding enchant removal monsters will stop the monk farming... shouldn't be too difficult of a fix... and in PvP there really isn't enough HP to last with conditions like poison, bleeding, disease and the various degen hexes....

Found it! Quoting from GW Guru: That is just...amazing. I mean amazing. I'm tempted to dump my el/mo PvP and build one of these guys and take him to the arenas.

i wouldnt suggest it. any health degen would nearly wipe you out by itself. plus, a good mesmer would eat up your energy for more damage (i alone can do 72 damage for one spell)

There is also a 55 monk build as there is a -50 HP quest item.... sure you only take 1 point from physical damage (with protective bond) but....

I've done underworld with someone with a build very similar to this (or it may even have been exactly this). It was a duo (no pun intended) , but all he had me do was put mending and watchful spirit on him, then he'd aggro everything, and I mean everything, then use smiting. It worked very well but was pretty boring for me, since all I did was watch him. Personally I like traditional 3-4 man smite runs more, just because I'm actually doing something besides keeping two enchantments running. But for monks with a warrior secondary I'm sure this is a cash cow.

Thanks, duo for this great info. This will be my first GW 'event.' BGN - can we maybe plan some G/G. I haven't been able to play lately and miss the heck out of it. Extra faction is an excellent incentive!

I would love to set up a time both Saturday and Sunday afternoon however, since I'm going back to college tomorrow I wont be able to figure out when I'm free nor let any of you know until Friday. Hopefully someone else can make a time and I'll try to be there.
Check out this the thread in the BGN Only Section so that this thread stays clutter free.

I want to be a part of it...but school starts so soon, so much stuff to do. I'll try to come on and play (*gasp* I know, I know, I haven't been on in so long), but I can't promise anything.

Not an update - yet - but IGN has an interview with Anet's lead Skill Designer and Balancer. Some good info (without any specifics) directly from the source of all skills for the game. Makes me wanna see Chapter 2 . Just follow the link to GW main page and it's at the top of the news (as of this post).

Well that is definetly the Nerf hammer of Thor to Spirits... and about time too!
Sad to see Purtid get a 5 second recharge ... that's an eternity when minion spells only take 3 sec to cast...
Will wait and see al the other changes... will be some editing to do this weekend...

I saw the new movie. I'm wondering why Anet didn't post it BEFORE the event. If the movie was done before the event, then the event went just as planned -- GL Ganking. Notice that in the movie the teams blow past the flags and head to each others halls.

it might have been footage from PvPX and so they just recorded GL ganks

Look at the update page! Anet's Advice is to spend your skill points (SoC's for me) before the update as skills will cost (signficantly?) more after the update!

Argh, that is so frustrating. Nice of them to give us hardly any advance notice. Bah!
I need some advice. Since I don't have nearly enough skill points to get all of the skills I'm missing, what should I spend them on? Regular skills or elites? If anyone wants to share their opinion on the matter, I'm eager to hear what you think. Just take a look at my skill list and PM me if you have any suggestions. My ele/mo has 14 skill points and 2 SoCs. My wa/ne has 15 skill points and 2 SoCs. My ra/me has 1 skill point and 2 SoCs.

Argh, that is so frustrating. Nice of them to give us hardly any advance notice. Bah! ... I'm eager to hear what you think. I think you should chill a bit. It's not the end of the world. The skills will be easier to acquire according to Anet and "The Frog", they're just going to cost more gold to purchase. That's the only difference. Personally I've never bought any of my skills (though I'm still lacking due to not trying to acquire many skills in the past). If you are that worried I'd just buy the skills now that you know you want and can't get anywhere else (like from quests and such). If there are elites that you want I'd buy a few SoC's for them and get those. Other than that, nothings really changing except for the gold increasing, and it will be easier to acquire the skills in general (how that's going to work, has not been explained but we'll see that with the update).

Personally, I counted my missing Elites and bought as many SoCs as I could... I can always get the non-elite for a mere 1k faction...

This ended up being a pretty big skill update. Few quick observations Zealots Fire Smite Spam, energy drain and ranger interrupt spikers were all nerfed -Zealot's Fire – Decreased damage to 5..35. -Ether Renewal – Decreased duration to 7 seconds; decreased the amount of Energy you gain to 1..3 per Enchantment. -Balthazar's Aura – Increased casting time to 2 seconds; increased recharge to 25. -Draw Conditions – Increased recharge to 2 seconds. -all ranger interrupts now have a Added a delay after skill is used before another can be used - Energy Drain – Skill reworked. New description: “Target foe loses 4..10 Energy. You then gain 2 Energy for each point of Energy target foe lost.” Also increased recharge to 30 seconds.
Fragilities' damage has been decreased a lot, but the cost and recharge are lower, so it might still be useful if it's combined with some cyrstal wave Fragility – Decreased Energy cost to 10; decreased recharge to 5; decreased damage to 5..20.

While the nerf hammer seems slightly more than I expected, there are some seemingly nice buffs as well, IMHO...

Yeah, reading through the skill changes list, I see a lot more positives than negatives for my own characters.
The UI improvements look real nice. Finally we can see what our hexes and pets are doing...

I also like the idea of calling what skill the enemy is using (if I read that correctly)... will be much easier to announce to your interrupter that a Meteor Storm/Res/etc... needs to be interrupted...

i really like all of the changes to the skills I saw. maybe they dont work out to my advantage, but there was always a whole set of skills that I thought were awesome but could never use. Hopefully now I'll get that chance. Also, the new UI looks great- especially the casting bar for spells with long casts.

New update today, fixes include the following: Fixed skills "Battle Rage," "Edge of Extinction," "Illusion of Weakness," "Martyr," "Plague Signet," "Plague Touch," "Predatory Season," "Spinal Shivers," and "Thunderclap," which had portions of their functionality broken in last week's update.I hope that fixes the Thunderclap zero-energy update! Lots of other tweaks, too, including a hint that something is gonna happen on Halloween...
