Lightning hit my computer (and my television in the living room). So I will be out untill I can get replacement. I did not know it was going to storm or I would have unplugged it. I'll be back as soon as I can. Have fun without me!

Going out of town again. Flying out today and will return late next weekend. This time I have a brand new state of the art laptop so I *should* still be able to play GW and LOTRO when I'm not busy with family things.

I arrived safely. My original flight was cancelled due to weather issues in Texas where I was to have a connecting flight. They put me on a flight 6 hours later. Fortunately I found out before leaving for the airport so I didn't actually have to wait there.
My cellular broadband card in my laptop is working real good too. I have high speed internet where ever I have a cell phone signal.
I should be on all week. On thursday or friday I will be driving back.

Well that was fun... not!
Hey I'm back! Online again after nearly 3 days without electricity and water.
We had a tornado touch down about 3-4 miles away. What a rush/ mess 1 minute it was dead calm, blue skies then suddenly my window blinds smacked up against the screens in my bedroom where I was.
I got up went to the window a pried them away so I could close the window. As I did rain started to fly and the was starting to gust in different directions. I went from my back to the front room to save my fluttering blinds in the living room and dining room and by the time I had made the traverse from one side to the other kids on the playground where scrambling home through a thick white fog of wind thrashing rain.
Crack!, flash! Boom! the power transformer nears us goes... the wind is raging now rain is flying into my apartment patio door and dining room windows even with the 5 foot overhanging eves.
At this point I'm thinking OK get ready to head for the bathroom, the trees are being folded over this way and that. I worry about our 50 plus ft. pines lining the windward/lakeside front of one of the buildings as the the frothy white (never seen anything like it) rage kept up. It lasted somewhere between 5-10 minutes then the sun came out wind went dead calm again and steam was starting to rise off the asphalt parking lots.
I went out to clear skies then hopped in my truck to take a quick spin to check the property. We had one 30 foot White pine uprooted and laying on it's side along our side road and another tree sheared off 4 feet from the ground in the back park area.
Our north parking lot, bordered by woods ,was covered with limbs, twigs and leaves. You really could hardly see any of the black lot showing through.
"Now" the tornado siren starts to wail up the block lol. And the emergency vehicle sirens start to float around in different directions.
After dragging the bigger limbs and debris off the lot I go for a drive alone the lake. What a mess the street was just like my lot, total covered with limbs, trees and lines downed everywhere. People are now out (most with cell phones in use) assessing their damage, float boat awnings (aluminum frames and all) wrapped around chimneys and in trees, lawn furniture in trees, trees and limbs littering all the properties.
Returning to my property as I drive in I have the stand off perspective of view which reveals the roofs on the three two story buildings.
Crap!, time to get out the ladder, hammer and nails... I've got one 3 ft X 10 ft area of shingles peeled back on one building and some smaller patches of damage on another.
That night it was candles and lamps.

That must have been a rush. Makes you feel alive! I've experienced a few close tornado's but not close enough to up-root trees. Glad you and your family are still in kansas and not Oz.
