I did not have fun at this weekend 's event for a number of reason.
1) not really a lot of story to go with it. 2) new area was really small. 3) opening event was laggy. hardly playable. 4) Quests to do after opening events were bugged. 5) Saturday's event still laggy but a little better but again not much story to it. 6) Exploring the new area not to bad but so many people it was jsut a zerg march. 7)Finally on Sunday the Event was not laggy. It was even fun. Died many times. Many people rezzing others. A great epic fight until I died and tried to go to a waypoint towards the very end and it killed the client. by the time I got back in it was over and no rewards chest for me. ANET says they are going to make it right on the rewards but still it really sucked.

So I wasn't able to get on during the weekend. I think it has some good points and some low points. I do like that it's a new area, it's fun to explore! I don't think I could have sat and tried to kill that boss for 2.5 hours though. I would rather just forego the rares for that much of a time sink. I think the new enemies are actually less challenging than the ones in orr as well, for better or for worse. I hope that they add more content, but I also feel like fractals of the mists sounds appealing as well, though I haven't had a chance to attempt it.

Due to the scaling and scheduling issues, I think the one-time-only event was a failure. A better way to implement one-time-only content would be to make it asynchronous. That is, you can only play it one time, but you can play it at a time of your choosing.
