From the GW main page:
This weekend is truly special, as we launch the opening of the Domain of Anguish. Players who have completed Nightfall will be given access to this elite area through the Chantry of Secrets on Friday, December 1st. You will find four separate areas for players to explore, nearly a dozen quests, new armor upgrade options, a system for acquiring novel weapons, and of course a compelling mission as well. We look forward to seeing you in the Domain of Anguish!

In other words -- for those of you who have a real life and can't play 24/7 screw you! -- oh well take lots of screenies for those of us who won't be there

I haven't completed it yet either. I've run into a snag. I can't seem to move forward and I'm having trouble finding what i've missed and the only mission I can find is impossible to complete. Looks like I won't be trying out the new area any time soon either.

Which mission solo?

Dzagonur Bastion Mission. It's the one where you have to guard 3 different stairways from an invading army. They give you some NCP groups to assist but ultimately they fall and you just don't have enough resources to do it all. I've tried different deployments and replayed the mission half dozen times but no matter what I do, they either wear my down with their sheer numbers or someone manages to slip past and costs me the mission. I've given up on the mission but am having a hard time finding other things to do. I haven't been in game for 2 weeks but currently I'm religated to wandering aimlessly hoping to stumble upon something, anything...

I did the same thing a while back Solo, took about 3 days of scouring posts to find npc that finally set me on primary mission path again, all the challenges and quests really can pull you off track.
I made it to end of game this past weekend, if you see me on maybe we can compare maps and notes to get a clue as to where you need to fall back to... I'm pretty sure the primary mission npc I jumped past on my travels was not hi-lit-ed.

Thats the one with the 4 generals? Solo that can be an easy or a hard mission. I would be happy to help.

Same here, Sollo. Just holler in guild chat if you need assistance.
Oh, and this is not a one-time weekend thing from what I gather, but a permanent addition to the game. So we'll all get there, sooner or later.

Please, call out when you get stuck like that!
I lost my primary quest the first weekend and roamed around a whole day looking for it. Did every nearly every quest in Kourna and checked every outpost at least a dozen times. Finally found master of whispers in Dejarin Estates explorable instead of Jahai Bluffs where you would expect to meet him. It's easy to loose track of where you are if you decide to do a side quest in one of those places where you have finished the mission you were assigned and have not yet gone back to get your reward.

Domain of Anguish - I anticipate lots of "LFG" at Gate of Madness this week. Two characters are completed and ready for Anguish, and maybe a 3rd by Saturday.
Dzagonur Bastion - That was a fun (potentially frustrating) mission. Make ol' Whisper face a MM and send all the NPCs to the left side. Work your way right to left. Hencheroed it twice.
If people get stuck, they should really shout out to the alliance. That's what a guild/alliance is for. There was a post over at TeG about wanting people to shout out to relieve some of the boredom of hencheroing.

I agree about it being either almost easy or really hard. A MM will help. I sent two teams to the left, one middle while our group held the right. We also were very aggresive about attacking the generals to get the portals closed.

LOL, I henched it my first time through too, but I split the teams to either side, and took the center. Then I suppored the flanks of the npc teams for a bit till the bastions were threatened, and went in to wipe that side of the map clean before progressing to the other side.

Elona is a dark land in as far as you are kept in the dark for mission quest directions.
Guildies and Alliance people are there to help you out though. I find it hard to find directions, ie: ... well after you go to point A... then you move to point B...
It seems to me, Elona is not so well defined a path and I spend most time looking online for answers whilst in game. Guild Wiki is extremely helpful, however, I for one miss the Prima guide which was most helpful for Tyria and Cantha, at least the paths seemed well defined.
Although the hero thing MAKES you take a hero for quests and missions getting a group is by far more difficult in Elona then other lands and it seems to avail to hench or pug groups. Not sure if that was the intent of Nightfall.

I think the difficulty is the natural inclination of the ANet design team frankly. Those of you that played through the betas might have noticed that the last few betas were mostly dedicated to making the game easier and more accessible to entry-level players. Then, after release of Prophecies they nerfed many things to subtly reduce the difficulty of certain missions. When I first did Hells Precipice for instance, it took a good party 2.5 hours to complete. Now we can do it in probably 30 to 45 mins. I'm sure part of that is we now know -how- to do the mission but it has more to do with the way they altered spawn locations and altered monster AI and skill sets and etc. There was a lot of gnashing of teeth over how insanely hard some of the missions were, and ANet responded to it. Factions, having been done by a different team had a different idea of what an appropriate challenge should be and there were more complaints about it being too easy than the other way around. I am not surprised that Elona came out of the box this difficult, but I will be surprised if we continue to find it so challenging 3 months from now. My Ritualist, as a good example sailed through the game pretty easily after having beaten the game once with my monk. Shelter+Union+painful bond=Win I don't even use an elite skill.

It seems to me, Elona is not so well defined a path ... This is currently one of my biggest problems with Nightfall. You can no longer look at your map and know where you need to be. Having to talk to an NPC to start a mission means countless hours scouring the land for the next mission point. I'm one that hates to have open quests so I like to hammer them out as I find them meaning that I easily loose my primary mission. Extremely frustrating. I think the difficulty is the natural inclination of the ANet design team frankly. Anet designed nightfall intentionally so that you can take hero's, Henchmen nearly as strong as real players, and not be dependant upon having to form groups all the time. They say they did this so that people that like to slow down and explore the game have that option. Yet at the same time they have several missions that are so hard that you can't practically do them without real people. Dzagonur Bastion is one such mission (Thanks everyone that helped me get past it). But I no sooner get past it when I find that the next mission is almost as bad. I've done "Grand Court of Sebelkeh" 4 times now and haven't been able to finish, though I almost finished it on the second try so I should be able to eventually... It's enough to make a person take a ship back to Tyria... Dzagonur Bastion - That was a fun (potentially frustrating) mission. Make ol' Whisper face a MM and send all the NPCs to the left side. Work your way right to left. Hencheroed it twice. I agree about it being either almost easy or really hard. A MM will help. I sent two teams to the left, one middle while our group held the right. We also were very aggresive about attacking the generals to get the portals closed. I tried several times to join a PUG with my Blood Necro, but people won't even give you the time of day in that mission unless you can do MM. Ended up dropping out of most of them because of that... Insanely hard. Thats the comment everyone is making so far. Invoke lightning for 337 damage. Penetrating Shot did 336 to me. I've seen hammers hit for 209.
Word of Healing is the elite of choice down there for monks these days. Bring a ranger with greater conflagration and winter, then everyone goes mesmer secondary with Mantra of Frost to bring the damage down to a survivable level and feed you a bit of energy as well.
MoF spam in Gate of Anguish is at least as bad as the IWAY spam in Tombs was.

I've hencheroed 2 characters to end-gamed, and a 3rd character just required real people for 1 mission. *cough* shiro *cough*
That mission is just stupid. I tried it a few times, gave up and went and did the Meloni mission instead. You can do either of them and continue the storyline.
Then switch to a MM. Later in the missions, those slobs will be crying for a blood necro.
DoA. Presort, HJar, and I tried it for some fun and actually got past the first group. Later we teamed up with Red only to sit there and watch 2 Ki heal each other. It was quite the love fest. I would like to try it some more.

I would like to try it some more. I'm figuring that high lightbringer levels are a going to be needed. Did anyone end up in an all human group with level 6-7 lightbringers? Did it make a difference? Our groups all had low level lightbringers. And, sadly, Hero's can't equip lightbringer skills. One more question for the alliance: Where is the best place to farm lightbringer points? There seem to be a couple of spots where you can farm in a worm for 10-12 points easy or be on foot for 50-70 very slowly.

Then switch to a MM. Later in the missions, those slobs will be crying for a blood necro. I almost did, but stopped. My staff weapon requires blood magic so I would need to swap it out. Also, my armor has a run increasing Blood Magic (+3) and that would have to be swapped out. Add to that the fact that I've never played a MM for more than 3 minutes total so I have almost zero skill or knowledge on the proper way to play one...

I've had no issues following the quest/mission storyline. It seems just like Prophecies to me, with primary quests ending at mission points. It was just as easy then to get lost in side quests or make it to map points in advance of the storyline.
As to playing a MM hero, here was my approach: 1) Ask Asya for a MM template, 2) drop it on Olias, and then 3) forget about it.

so far I haven't had any problems with the storyline either. There have been a few points when I've seen a glowing mission on my screen and thought that I missed one, but it was actually one I couldn't do without the Master of Whisperers. And we've been doing every single sidequest as we go. (hence our slow pace. ) But I've heard of people having this problem. Just haven't experienced it.
