Hello and Happy Holidays, everyone!
I'm a new guy seeking membership in the Beguine guild--here's my story:
I started playing GW in about May--right when it was released for sale commercially. It was good times, but it seemed like lots of the players were...well, kind of annoying and juvenile. I got a few guild invitations, but wasn't really up for it. In fact, I kind of didn't want to join a guild at all. However, I played with some cool people for a few missions in about June who were all in the same guild, and they were great. They asked me to join and I agreed.
It was a great guild. We only had about 10-12 members for most of the time, and I eventually got promoted with the rest of the 'original members' to be an officer, although I'm not sure what they expected of an officer. Time went by, we had fun, some of us chatted a bunch on the IM programs out-game...it was all good. However, as time went by, some not so hot guild members eeked their way into the guild and it started going downhill. Eventually, I came back from a week away for work and discovered that I'd been demoted, one of the original core members had quit, and there were a whole lot of new members who were exactly the kind I wanted to avoid in the other guilds. Focus was shifting from friends having fun to PvP, GvG, and having bad attitudes. After a week of that, I decided to leave. I actually just returned from a month away on vacation and discovered that all but two of the original members of the old guild had quit for the same reasons. By the time I had gotten back from vacation, they had all joined different guilds, so we couldn't form our own. I decided it might be a nice change to be an indi for a while...
Last weekend, I joined a group that did this awesome marathon mission and had a great time doing it and chatting with people. Two of them were Healer Nehemah and Keelin of Edan. They told me about BGN and sent me to the web site...and I decided to take them up on the offer to sponsor me as a new recruit!
About me in-game:
I have two characters right now
--Julie Sturbridge (N/Me, lvl20, currently in the Ring of Fire)
--Telum Superum (Mo/R, lvl11, crossing the Shiverpeaks early post-sear)
I play Julie 90% of the time, but I'll probably start a new character after the big new mod is released--that assassin class sounds right up my alley! I usually play for 3-10 hrs on weekends and maybe one night a week for a few hours, sometimes more. I play Julie a little bit differently than a lot of 'typical' necros are expected to play (battery, minion lord, whatever), but it works and I like it that way. Healer Nehemah and Keelin of Edan may have some observations to post about the way we played last weekend. I'm not too happy with the Ranger 2d class on Telum Superum, but we'll see how it goes. I may have to change it after he ascends.
That about sums it up--sorry for the long novel, but it only takes a minute to read. I'm looking forward to adventuring with you more and hopefully joining Beguine!
