Just finished installing Windows Vista Business. It seems to run surprisingly smooth considering how much of a resource hog it is. It recognised all of my hardware including a qlogic fiber channel card that connects to my drive bay.
I'm downloading / installing the guildwars client right now. GW runs in vista but I haven't seen it on a system with a powerful processor yet...

Keep us posted. I'm in no hurry to buy Vista, but I am curious to know how well it performs, game-wise.

Haven't used vista at work yet -- but I have been using Office 2007. I'm dreading the training I'll have to do for the staff in the entire system -- big learning curve -- we are actually thinking of switching to open office because of the significant UI changes.

Sounds like Vista will be phenomenal for gamers, once the games are written to capitalize on DX 10, and the makers of graphics cards produce drivers that support Vista. As yet neither of these things is true, though there are a lot of drivers in late beta stages. Be sure to check for a driver for your card before you go spend the $100 to $400 Vista will cost you for a home version. I've never been one to rush out to buy the latest Windows, typically I wait till at least the first service pack is out. In this case that's probably not so far away, since it's already under development. I really want Vista though, so maybe when I go back to school next term (if all goes as planned) I'll treat myself to a new computer that comes with it

OK, here's an update:
Gamewise, Guildwars plays just fine. The only difference I see is that I'm getting half the frame rate under Vista that I could get with XP. In XP I would see between 30 and 70 fps but in vista I'm seeing from 15 to 30 fps. Still plenty fast enough to play.
Vista's Media Player is all but useless. The color shifts, the image pauses even though the audio continues, some video's now suddenly require some obscure audio codec that was never required before, and the play speed, when not locked up, varies from slow motion to fast forward. I'm planning to keep XP intact in my other hard drive. My BIOS allows me to boot to any drive in my system so it's a simple matter for me to change back if I need to.
Other than that, and one blue screen of death this morning, I really like Vista. The interface takes a little getting used to but it's a much nicer system in general.
I'm running a Pentium 4 HT 3.0 ghz with 2 gb RAM, 400gb HD, and two 160gb hd's.
Oh, and vista doesn't appear to support software RAID. That was kinda dissapointing. I wanted to Mirror my two 160gb drives for data protection but oh well...

I plan to wait for Microsoft and other users to work all the bugs out. Maybe after SP 2 for vista comes out.

Once they release SP2 there will be a new OS coming out...

Well, I'm in no rush to buy Vista, all the games out now work on XP, so I personally am not in a rush to get it.

See the voice software is what would get me in trouble...I would scream F*CK ME! when I get attacked by a monster and next thing you know my machine would chase me down and well...read the article and you'll see.. ;-) blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=418
