Friday night I picked up the gamecube version of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I played a little bit Friday night and a lot yesterday logging in a total of 10.5 hours of game time.
The graphics are much better than previous versions and the soundtrack revives tunes from the early Zelda games. Considering that the game was designed to be played by waving your arms around like an idiot, the standard controls of the gamecube give you surprisingly easy control of the game play. The puzzles are challenging, but not stupidly so. They are solvable with a little patience and thought. I still refer to my walkthrough guide though just to keep things moving along.
And, of course, the quality of the story line is right up there with the other classics such as the Ocarina of Time.
I've completed the first dungeon and in the process of searching for the second.
This game is a must for any zelda fan.

I never really had the chance to get into the zelda games -- one of you fans tell me what the attraction is...

For me, there are a few factors:
1. A desperate story of an ultimate evil that is about to take over the world and force itself upon everyone. Only you, the hero, can save everyone. Unfortunately, you are not a trained warrior and need to learn it all as you go. 2. More recent versions have fantastic scenery and graphics. 3. Puzzles that challenge your mind and your hand-eye coordination.
As of now, I have a little over 23 hours logged and I'm only through two dungeons; about to enter the third. I'm on the final battle to kill the 16th bug that's holding the darkness over Zora's Domain.

Ya gotta wonder about a universe that puts the fate of its own existence in the hands of a noob. j/k
