Ok -- just another reason why history should be a required course -- so people can't claim ignorance... Walmart sells SS t-shirts

Ok -- just another reason why history should be a required course -- so people can't claim ignorance... On the other hand, if everyone was ignorant of it, what would the harm be? The only reason there was a fuss over this at all was because someone, with a knowledge of history, recognised it. If he wasn't such a history buff, no one would have noticed or cared.

actually Sollo if you listen to the interview with the guy who discovered it he isn't a "history buff" just a normal guy who remembered something from school.
also -- the symbol is still used in tattoos/literature by white supremacists...
hate groups (regardless of color) can't be forgotten or ignored -- they violate the basic premise of the social contract -- violate the social contract then all things go to hell

Oh, don't get me wrong. I don't support hate groups at all. Just saying that if the meaning of a symbol is forgotten, then the symbol no longer has any power.

I bet some t-shirt designer is out of a job. Stupid Wal-Mart. The swastika, a sacred symbol in many ancient cultures, was subverted by Hitler for his party. Our perception of symbols and words and the meanings we assign to them is such a fascinating subject. My oldest brother is doing an entire series of paintings and lectures on this subject.
