So I'm having to do a presentation on OSS (open source software) -- and am curious as to what all of your favorite pieces of OSS are -- I want to come up with some nice handouts and figured you all might now of some that I don't. OH and please share the URL too

Apache Tomcat (java servlet engine) and Apache Xerces (XML Parser). Both of these are pretty low level and may not be suited for your audiance. These can be found at www.apache.org. One of my favorite OSS' tools is Audacity. Audacity is an open source audio capture and editing software package. It is available at audacity.sourceforge.net.

The company I work for runs on "LAMP": Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. Of course, all that sits out on the servers just doing its job. Day to day, the OSS program we developers invoke most often is Subversion. You can do anything with Subversion, with the right post-commit scripts. ;D That's the big five. If I had to pick one, I must admit I've developed quite an affection for PHP, warts and all...
