Okay, Stephen King is back on the shelf. Starting on Half-blood Prince. 650 pages? Sheesh...
They have a waiting list of 147 people for Deathly Hallows, 90 copies in circulation.

Nope, but I just noticed that one at the store the other day. I wonder why he decided to exhume his alter ego...

All praise the God of Books! I have THE BOOK! I shall indulge myself tonight...and perhaps not feel so jealous anymore. My mother reminded me that she owed me money for the kidlet's swimming lessons and paid for my lovely pre-order for me ;D
*edit: finished the book last night...*

Well, now that I have finished, again, the available Wheel of Time series (come on, book 12!) I am re-reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman. I read it a while ago, really liked it too. Now I keep seeing clips for the movie and they look absolutely horrible! Have to re-read to see if it's as good as I remember.

I read Stardust last month -- I liked it -- but it's not really like the movie previews are suggesting...

Anyone read any of Edgar Rice Burroughs books? Or am I the only one?

I've read all of the Tarzan novels, I think there are 26 of them. Also all of the John Carter of Mars novels. I think I read the entire Pellucidar series as well but there may have been some I missed there. What was the hero's name in those books? John Aames maybe?

David Innes is the hero in Pellicudar(<-- spell check). Along with his old friend Abner Perry. I too have read all of the John Carter of Mars and the red men of Barsoom series. I have yet to read the Tarzan series though. I reread some of the titles at the free online library found here: burroughs.thefreelibrary.com/

The Phantom Tollbooth ~Norton Juster
to my kids at night. We did chapter 1 and 2 last night and I think Rhiannon and Bobby are hooked. Shelby fell asleep.

The Phantom Tollbooth ~Norton Juster It's been YEARS since I've thought about the Phantom Tollbooth. I loved that book when I was younger! I read it so much that I managed to disintegrate three different copies of it. Excellent choice, indeed. I'm currently not "reading" anything, but I'm hooked on a couple of podcast audiobooks... The Seventh Son trilogy by J.C. Hutchins and the Quarter/Half/Full Share series by Nathan Lowell. Podiobooks rock... much better than radio when driving.

Just finished Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides and Prentice Alvin by Orson Scott Card. Liked 'em both. Ooooo. I love Orson Scott Card in general and the Alvin Maker series specifically! :-) As for me, I'm ready the third book in the Otherland Series by Tad Williams, Mountain of Black Glass.

Currently reading The Broken Crown by Michelle West. Do not read this book. I am cursing my inability to put down a book once I've started it (to be honest, I keep hoping that it'll get better). I'm on page 102 and I have absolutely NO CLUE what the %^&$ is going on. I keep re-checking to make sure it really is book 1 in the series....and the cover repeatedly assures me it is (I think it lies). I must hunt down the author so I can let her know that it is acceptable to let her readers in on some background information....and while detailed descriptions of people's clothing are nice, I'd rather have detailed descriptions of WHAT THE CHARACTERS ARE DOING! How did this woman get a book deal? On a lighter note...just finished reading some "what to expect now that your mommy is pregnant" books to my daughter...
