I'll be getting a tech for libraries type book sometime today -- that I get to write a review for to be published... woo hoo? If it's any good and can cross fields I'll share the title.

I am currently reading the Grapes of Wrath -- Seems the NEA did a study and the leisure reading of literature by adults has decreased significantly over the past several years. If you want to know if your library is participating in this national campaign check out NEA Big Read and see what book they are reading.

Knife of Dreams by Robert Jordan. Have to say it's much better than the last two or three books in the series, but unless something changes I'll be patiently waiting for a copy of his next book to become available at the library because I think he owes me a refund on the last two pieces of crap he wrote

The Total Money Makeover and More Than Enough by Dave Ramsey. When I went to school, decades ago... , accounting was my major. I always pretty much thought it was all just numbers and balance sheets. The bills come in and they got paid without much thought. My wife and I thought we would just try doing what it said about budgeting together. I must admit, I have learned more about her in a month than I knew in all the years we've been married. I never really understood the "security issue". My eyes have been opened, now.....

Recently finished the Stephen King short story collection Nightmares and Dreamscapes (bought new when it came out, but set aside for some reason) and Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys. Now that was an entertaining book. Fun story, great humor, good characters, lots of different plot lines that all come crashing together in a satisfying way. Good stuff. Just started David Brin's Brightness Reef. I don't remember any details of the original Uplift trilogy, so I don't know if I'm missing references or not. Edit: added the bloody name of the King short story collection. duh.

Eld - I read Brin's Kiln People last year and thought it was pretty decent.
I'm finishing up Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood right now. She visited the college where I work earlier this week. She gave a great reading and answered some questions. Fantastic woman.

Hiya BGN! I found my way here from Inda's link from TeG's forums. I just finished Lisey's Story from Stephen King which was still Stephen King weird but different from other books. Before that was The Cell also from King, that one would make you think twice before using a cell phone again! I'm preordered and looking forward to the final Harry Potter book and party at Barnes and Noble, Recurve's glad this is the last one, I've dragged him to all of them

Once again I am re-reading The Wheel of Time series. Perhaps someday it will be finished. I can't count how many times I've read these while waiting for the next book......grrrrrrrrrr! Currently on book 5 The Fires of Heaven.

You have my utmost sympathies there laurelin. I too wish the guy could put out a 400 page novel every two years instead of an 1100 page tome every 5 :/ At this point I can't wait for Tarmon Gaidon just so I can see all those wretched bastards die! LOL

I have stopped buying the wheel of time books until the last one comes out. I just hate how he keeps opening up new threads. And the last one I read, Winters Heart, was more on the other Chars and not Rand. I have a hunch he will die before he finishes it cause he doesn't know how to finish it.
Anyway reading Eric by Terry Pratchett. Would be reading Guards, Guards but a toilet leak (luckily from the reservoir and not the sewer pipe) ruined it.

Seeing as how Robert Jordan has amyloidosis and I think his doctors have given him about 2 to 3 years to live, we can only hope he will be able to finish the series. He promises to have it completed in time (he's hoping to have Memory of Light done soon, which would be the last book). His blog can be found at: www.dragonmount.com/RobertJordan/
