Personally... I find it stupid that they made it. We already have a nice wiki going at gw.guildwiki.org. Now this might screw everything up, with half the people going to the unofficial (and clearly better wiki), and the other half going to the official one. I really don't think everyone is going to contribute there articles to both wiki's at the same time. Which means were going to have to choose... I'm sure people have seen it already, but heres the link... wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page

According to posts elsewhere, the maintainers of guildwiki.org are being buried with bandwidth charges. They are happy that Anet has made an official wiki. Due to Creative Commons license restrictions, the guildwiki.org content cannot be moved over to the official wiki in one fell swoop. The content creators will have to move it themselves.
Personally, I wish Anet had simply purchased the guildwiki.org domain and taken over ownership of the thing. Then it would be a done deal.

Hmm... I was under the impression that guildwiki was maintained by MMOGuru networks, which is a commercial venture. I don't go there, haven't liked them ever and if another site sets up a wiki I'd be more than happy to change all my bookmarks immediately.
Why they wouldn't allow ANet to mirror their site is a question I can't answer, but frankly I am really glad ANet has decided to host their own data anyway. IMHO it was never a good idea to have no outlet for discussion of official news and releases. As demonstrated so clearly on my forums, the moderators at the largest fansite are unethical at the very least. 'Corrupt' is the term I prefer, since every other word I can think of would get caught by the censor. Certainly having no recourse except the 'official' forums would not be ideal either, however I think the staff at ANet would be better served by hosting a forum which is HEAVILY moderated for signal, so the more casual gamer can go to one central source for information and view any debate about it in a relatively painless process.
but that's my $.02

Went to the guild wars wiki. went to an elite skill. clicked on a boss to SOC. No map. repeated about 10 times. no maps. Since this si what I use the wiki for 50% fo the time I will stay with the unofficail one for a while. What a mess.
