Couldn't we at least have a new dance so it doesn't feel like we are buying gear?

Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about this.
On one hand I think its fine if ANet chooses to sell gear so long as the stats on the stuff could be replicated in game with what already exists. Ppl will pay for fancy looking skins and that's fine with me if they want to, so long as it's just a look and not a tactical advantage.
On the other hand I have a sense of impending doom if ANet feels they need to further commercialize the game to make a profit. It may or may not be a slippery slope, but it's the wave of the future I think. Micro transactions are an inevitable addition to gaming, but not necessarily an improvement.

This is a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't. Some zealous players that already have the game want those weapons so they can have "Everything Guild Wars". You know the type, buys all the bounus/preorder packs, buys all 3 collectors editions, and probably has a lifesize cutout given away by EB Games or something. So Anet thought they would be gracious and offer the GOTY Upgrade Edition to those people. At least these items are max damage.
