I just noticed the new warning on my GW log on page...Yikes!
I downloaded those calculators way back, I think a lot of us did. What do I do now? Can I change password?

I haven't looked at the other calculators lately...but originally they did not contain key loggers. There have been more calculators poping up that do contain them.
Unless you've downloaded any programs recently I wouldn't worry. Anet also has to put that warning because they don't need to get sued from jackass stealing a persons info...and then that person comming and blaming that on Anet.

I'm not sure how someone could steal you account. i mean it is password protected and you account is tied to your key. However, changing your password might be a good idea for peace of mind.

I know some (most?) of the calculators have an 'update' button to get the latest skill info the programer has assembled... if the calculator was actutally some type of keylogger, then perhaps you had it open to make a build... then started GW to try the build in PvP... if it was tracking your keys, it might then capture your password (although it might not get your email)... then the next time you go to 'update' its skill list, BAM, you just gave your account to the programmer...
Just a possible scheme...

If only people would use their powers for good.

More likely (and more effective) the calculator would download a small file onto your computer which acts as a kind of spyware (ie/virus scanners wont pick it up), this then logs whatever keys you press, and from analyzing the data transmittd back to them they could easily figure out which keys correspond to your password. all they then need to do is log in on your account and change the password and BAM, no account for you!

No use for calculators and builders anyways, you can do all of that in game and you could always just memorize what all the skills do
