So last night I brought my lil mesmer Vellum out of presear and was so excited to be able to buy her armor and stash the supplies/dye I had collected in presear. So I get to Asc City and pay to access my storage...and I don't have access to any of my crafting supplies. The extra tab isn't available to me. Zip zero zilch...and there is not one around from whom I can buy access. So I jump to the Guild Hall...still no one....so no crafting supplies for Vellum That sucks.

Yep you have to make it to LA then go to KC in Factions to get access to it. Then you can access it in prophecies after that. Why? Cause ANET HATES US! Actaully ANET just loves money.

It was as poorly implemented as it was conceived.

These days I usually just pay runners to get me from Ascalon City to Sanctom Cay and finally the desert. Also down through snake dance to Droks. It doesn't cost all that much and saves me a LOT of time exploring places I've seen dozens of times.
For about 3-5k you could get to LA in about an hour and then travel to KC and have your storage expanded.

Well, it's a Factions feature, so it makes sense to me that you have to get to a Factions map point to access it. Just like a free profession change requires access to Seeker's Passage.
Sorry, Inda. Looks like you'll have to visit the dreaded F-place one more time...

Or you can use a Factions-enabled character to move your stuff from the Materials tab to the regular storage tab. Then your new character can get the supplies without having to visit KC.

yeah that's what I'm going to do Lily -- I want to relive the old memories of a GW without Factions... of course I'm still looking for a team to get my Monk past the very last mission of Prophecies too

Okay, so I looked around and this post was about the closest I could find to discuss my issue. And that is... I'm a very very naughty girl - I don't pay attention to names and places. So if I use a LOT of descriptions instead... I bought the storage box from that nifty lady (starts w/ a X, doesn't it?) that is all over the place once you move from...well, after you run off to fight for 2 years and come back to a destroyed city. So I've got this storage box (which I'm very confused, because this thread seems to indicate that I should have Factions to get to that - and I don't, I bought the original game...). And well, I'm a pack rat. So my questions are: is there a way to get even *more* storage other than the chest, backpack, bag, and belt pouch? And...um, what do most people do with their original armor after you upgrade? Toss it? Verlorene er..aka Ana Vrayne & Ptola Roma

Good question -- first off be sure to visit wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page if you haven't already a great resource for all sorts of GW info. And my rule of thumb with anything in game - is try to salvage anything you can from it -- and then sell what you don't need and if it won't sell then trash it. Mind you that may not be the brightest rule of thumb

Something people do is create "mules" ,usually none playing chars, that they equip with all the bags and use them as storage... careful though... you could end up like me, 2 accounts and 18 chars>>>> 14 of which are mules which equates to "packraticus maximus" syndrome.
As far as armor goes some races such as Monks and Necros will have multipul armor "sets" to change out to vary thier HP aspects for specialized builds and a lot of people keep extra head armor with different attribute runes to max attribute catigories such as my ranger who swithes to Superior Marksmanship rune mask for max bow damage then can swap to Superior Wildeness Survival rune mask for max damage trapping.

Do not keep any armor unless it is max armor (60 for casting, 70 for most others besides the warriors of 80). I usually don't keep multiple sets but a piece that has what I want on it. Like a +3 death mastery on my nec that I only use in certain circumstances as it gives me -75 health.
Also in Cantha and I think in Elona you can pay for a Storage chest upgrade which gives you 3 more tabs for storage and 1 more tab for crafting materials.
Hope that helps. Btw salvaging drops is only adavantages until you get a full stack of something (250 scales) to put in storage once you get to lvl 20 and max armor. I usually just sell it to the Merchant unless it is something really good.
Some people don't pick up white items (i.e. their description is white). But I'm cheap so I pick up everything unitl my inventory is full.

Cool! You guys have been very helpful. My armor isn't nearly as high as I guess it will get to, I see. And, lol, I'll try to not turn into a packraticus maximus or anything! And thanks for the tip on the salvage items. I've been spending too much money on salvage kits I think. And yeah, I pick up everything. I figure 3 gold is better than no gold, so sell sell sell. V
