In the Kaineng Center and in the Shing Jea Monasery. A New Xunlai storage agent is available for 50 gold coin per character. You can get storage for up to 250 of each crafting item which is in the game.

Sweet! once you pay the 50g, is it still only accessible from those two locations?

Sweet! once you pay the 50g, is it still only accessible from those two locations? You can "UNLOCK" the feature from those two locations for each character. Once unlocked, that character can access their materials from any storage agent.

It's very cool that this is here, but what's annoying is this quote from the original announcement regarding this feature:
Is there a charge for the Materials Vault? Will the Xunlai Agent ask for another fee?
There is no additional cost for storage in either real-world or game world currency.
Hmph.

The part that I don't like is that it's limited to Factions owners right now since you can only unlock the feature in Cantha. Once unlocked, you can use it in Tyria too. Your Tyria only characters have to venture to Cantha to unlock the feature before it can be used.
If you don't unlock it for all characters, those that are not unlocked can't access the materials and that could cause headaches...

Yes as usual ANET is making us pay for their lack planning.

I think is makes more sense for it to be available to Canthans because they have the added equipment of all 8 characters plus more materials. If the user has both worlds, then it just makes sense that the storage should be increased for them because they have access to more stuff than anyone.

But it does violate Anet promises for universal feature updates being free... There was a long argument at the Guild Hall the speculated that the reason that only Canthan characters get the update is due to database buffer limitations assocated with your characters. The idea was that when space for Factions characters was allocated, there was extra room for feature updates that does not exist for Tyrian-only characters. Theory is that an entire database-reformat would be required to give the storage to Tyrians, which would close the game for hours while the re-format occured. This however was all (perhaps educated) guessing...

Not sure about that, as my Prophecies based characters (Asya Mordina and Rock of Asya) have access to the enhanced storage. If the Prophecies based characters go through some buffer conversion when they visit Cantha for the first time, seems like Anet could do that for all characters in a nightly run.
It will be interesting is when Nightfall comes out. If Nightfall characters get the enhanced storage without purchasing Factions there could be quite the uproar.
