United93 is a movie about one of the 4 planes that crashed.I am going to go see this movie this Friday with my dad and a friend of his.(heres some info) Trailer www.apple.com/trailers/universal/united93/hd/The Full Story www.aetv.com/flight_93/f93_history.jspI really think this movie is going to make some money and one of the cool things about the movie is they're donating some of the money to make a memorial for flight 93.

I think that it is great that they are donating some of the money. I am torn because of that. I do not think that there needs to be a movie about that event though. Nothing like adding glamour to a tragety. I think that it will give the terrorists what they want. More free publicity.

I too am torn by this kelkhil...although I think it's wonderful that they are donating funds...I don't plan on seeing this film --- I go to movies for a short escape from the real world.

there are plenty of movies about other real tragedies, I don't see how this one is any different. Censoring is not the right way to go.

?Censoring? Hope my comment didn't spawn that -- nope I just don't see movies based on tragedies -- anyone else is more than welcome to attend them -- just not for me

censorship sucks! As for this movie - I have a similar reaction to Inda's. I don't mind that it was made, and I am glad if people get something out of seeing it. I am also glad about the donation. But, I will not see the film. Just like I won't watch Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan or Braveheart. There are some things I just don't want to put myself through if I don't have to. Joby thinks I'm crazy, saying "it's only a movie," but I have a hard time maintaining my distance from violent or tragic subject matter, especially if it is based in fact. Maybe this is all some form of denial, and I'm wrong. Maybe I should watch all those commercials about starving children, and the specials about kids with cancer. Maybe I'm a bad person. Gods - I'm stopping now. This sounds like a really lame confessional blog.

For me the reason I don't think I'll see it is that it is about such a recent event. It's different to watch a movie about Pearl Harbor, since I wasn't around during the real event. But for the events of 9/11, I was here and saw all this stuff happening on my computer and TV while in college. I think it is simply too soon for this kind of movie about it, but I am sure it will still get a good amount of money at the box offices regardless. And from an article I heard about in the Washington Post, it seems as if the memorial to Flight 93 can use all the monetary help it can get in order to help it into existence (a senator from NC apparently has been blocking it b/c he believes that the US gov't shouldn't own more land)

I too think it is too recent of an event to make a movie on, but to each his/her own. I won't be seeing it. BUT... Roxy... you are missing out on one heck of a good movie by not seeing Braveheart IMHO. That movie is my favorite movie of all time. It has comedy, action, and a love story all rolled into one!

I was thinking of Kelkhil's reply, should've quoted... now I am not talking about censorship here. I just think that the people who made this movie, even if not purposefully are giving the terrorist what they want. More publicity. That is why every so often a "new" tape from Bin Laden surfaces, front page news. They want to be the topic that everyone talks about in fear. I think this movie will give them more of it. Not too mention I also agree that it is too soon to relive this tragedy. I never meant that it should not be allowed, just that maybe it is not a good time.

But a new tape from Bin Laden is news, terrorism won't go away or diminish just by not reporting on it. If people get afraid by it, so be it. Some things are scary.

Oh my...I know I won't be seeing it...I spent that day in the very early stages of labor. My daughter was born on the 12th. I kept wondering what kind of world my daughter was going to be born in. I don't need to relive that.

.Yeah the only reason ill possibly go see it today is because I didnt know what was going on Actually BrutalArcher brings up a good point -- something that I've noticed with the incoming college kids at the uni where I work -- a large number of them have no cultural reference points. Be it historical, pop culture, or other wise. And unless it's spoonfed to them they look at you with vacant eyes. Mind you there are a few who are very bright and do "get it" -- But there are others that worry me...

I just got back from the movie.I cant really say the movie was good or excellent but the movie made me mad and then sad at the same time but it informed me about what happend on that day and I have never experienced this until now where I walk out of a theatre and nobodys laughing or talking about the movie they just came out in amazment and tears.
