Alright, new post here to discuss anything Season 3 related, and since it's not airing till October, everything in here will be spoilers DO NOT READ FURTHER ... CONTAINS CHARACTER DEMISE INFO ... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED Anything in red text is new/updated informationso... Starbuck will be with another guy who apparently will make the fans "livid." I'm hoping this other guy will be Leoben, because I love him EDIT: This post will include all the spoilers for Season 3 in hopefully a more organied matter for easy referencing.Episodic Info:3.01: Occupation* The opening episode may be set as late 4 months after the events in LYDB. * The Cylons have also arrested key certain people for interrogation. Laura, Cally, and Tigh are being held in detention. * Baltar arranges Laura's release. * Cally is visited by Boomer (the resurrected model who's previous incarnation she shot). No other details on that so far. * Leoben is "shacking up" with Kara in episode 301... he is brainwashing her into a fake reality... and they do have a baby girl, and she's called Kacey. The baby is real, not a delusion on Kara's part. (have no idea how exactly this is going to come about, but it proves my Leoben/Kara theory, so I'm happy. Perhaps the baby is a "test-tube" baby from when she was captured in "The Farm.") apparently there will be no baby nor a hybrid one* At one point, one of Lucy Lawless' models goes to visit a Colonial Oracle and is told that the cylon/human baby Hera/Isis is still alive. * (some of this might be in 3.02, I can't remember from the sides and calls I was reading) 3.02: Precipice3.03: Exodus* The Colonials get the hell out of New Caprica and return to the fleet. * Pegasus gets destroyed... it's sent on a collision course with a basestar, so the Galactica can get away. * There was also a mention on a interview with Bradley Thompson about the curse on the Commanders of the Pegasus and how we still haven't seen the last of that. Someone warn Lee! We can assume he survives this somehow as JB has moved to the US full-time and is still on the show * Baltar heads up to one of the cylons' basestars along with Number Six. 3.04: CollaboratorsMisc Info:SETTING:* The first 3 episodes may cover as long a timeframe as 4-5 months. * The first 3 episodes are set mainly on New Caprica, as the Colonials try and cope with Cylon rule. These will form the A storyline, while events in the Fleet will feature in the B storyline. The Fleet is reunited in Episode 3, and from there on, we are back on the run in space. CHARACTERS:* So far main cast characters include Adama, Laura, Lee, Kara, Baltar, Six & Sharon. Tyrol & Helo are possibly now considered main cast characters. Regulars are Tigh, Dee, Gaeta, Cally & Cottle. * There will be some deaths. At least one the regulars, (not main cast/pre-titles) will be killed. There will be other deaths of semi-regular characters we know and love. There were plans to kill off one of the main cast, but that was shelved. ( Ellen Tigh is one of the deaths, as well as Duck, though I'm still unsure about Anders) * Laura has been held for a while but Baltar arranges her release. She returns to her role as school-teacher, but she and Maya are taking photos of those collaborating with the Cylons, so there will be a record and a reckoning. The baby appears to still with them and okay. * Tigh is kept in captivity and tortured by the Cylons. He loses an eye. In the meantime Ellen is sleeping with Brother Cavil, and is killed at some point. She appears to have been working for the Resistance * Tyrol and Anders appeared to be leading the Resistance and are happily blowing up Cylons, while their other halves are being held captive. The resistance even resorts to suicide bombings and one of the former nuggets, Duck, is killed that way. Anders may survive this because Michael Trucco said he was supposed to filming 7 eps, but I don't remember exactly what he said at the moment. * Baltar is happily collaborating with the Cylons, but is more obsessed with the return of "Six" than what is really happening. Eventually he is taken off the planet to a Basestar by her. * Zarek is Vice-President and is completely disillusioned with Baltar. He goes his own way, and there was a hint that he is part of the Resistance. * After Kara's mind-frak with Leoben and her baby, she throws herself back into her military life, symbolised by her new shorn hair. CYLONS:* We have 7 known Cylons; Six(6), Doral(5), Leoben, Sharon(8), Simon, D'Anna(3) & Cavil. There are 5 others, but even the other Cylon models do not know who they are. * Brother Cavil is a regular, as is Lucy Lawless's cylon. * Sharon is still alive, but her relationship with Helo is uncertain and going through some problems, but it is not over. It appears that she may find a role to play in the Fleet * We are also going to see a lot more of the inside of Cylon society and the basestars.

Oh Good Grief! I couldn't resist reading even though you gave ample warning about the spoilers. I had pretty much assumed the first character demise you mentioned, but hadn't imagined the second. The MacBeths (as I lovingly refer to the Tighs) are really, really fun to watch. I can only hope the merriment continues for at least a few eps into the new season. One additional thought: I hope that Lee slims down enough that he is able to jump up and off of the giant, prickly stick that somehow ended up in his butt.

I can only hope the merriment continues for at least a few eps into the new season. They will most likely kill her off on the first episode of the new season, I'd guess. Since they clearly are not renewing her contract for another season, they'll just do away with her asap. I really don't like her and will be glad to see her go. The only good thing that they *could* do with her is to reveal that she's a cylon...

Oh, I dunno, Sollo, I can think of lots more really great things they could do with her. She's so classless and such a ho - there's lots of fun to be had in that arena. I'd love to see her get utterly drunk with her husband again. It was really fun watching them alternately abuse each other/make out with each other.
Ellen's devious and overly ambitious but so, so stupid - also a recipe for fun, fun, fun. One can only hope that her flaws will help carry her along to a truly entertaining demise.

Here are some updated and *corrected* spoilers as of, well, now * Episode 303 is called Exodus * Pegasus gets destroyed in 303, it's sent on a collision course with a basestar, so the Galactica can get away. * In episode 303, the Colonials get the hell out of New Caprica and return to the fleet. * There's only three episodes in New Caprica, and then they go back to space! * In episode 303, Baltar heads up to one of the cylons' basestars along with Number Six. * Anders is still alive (I believe Michael Trucco said he was supposed to filming 7 eps, but I don't remember exactly what he said at the moment) * Leoben is "shacking up" with Kara in episode 301... he is brainwashing her... and they do have a baby girl, and she's called Kacey. The baby is real, not a delusion on Kara's part. (have no idea how exactly this is going to come about, but it proves my Leoben/Kara theory, so I'm happy)

It will be amusing the watch Baltar twist around as he helps the cylons. The second item... oh my I don't like it. Isn't Leoben the model that Starbuck tortured and Roslin blew into open space?!! Is this one the same consciousness as the one Starbuck dealt with? If so, this is really going to be ugly. "Shacking up" isn't the proper term for what must be about to happen. I forgot that he was the cylon that was looking for her as soon as they arrived on the planet. Hmmmm... so many questions. --Presort

Hmmmmm...wow, Lastnight was pretty powerful, love the none stop multi layered subplot editing, leaves lots to digest and concider. And we now have a new cylon infiltrator added to the list, looks as though he is a human simpathizer though so good for our team. That ending was a mulifaceted cliffhanger indeed...hmmm we shall see...
oops just realized this is weong thread for this, maybe someone could move it over to "Returns"

Okay, someone who has a secret inside track needs to talk to me about last night's episode. Starbuck is dead?! Okay, I figure she hit the eject button and got caught by the cylons but still... How long must be we be kept in suspense? Oh no! The fan sites seem to say she's done for the season and will be off the credits even. If she's a toaster there's going to be trouble.

I'm guessing she's a toaster. They'll give the actress a few episodes off and then bring her back in the season finale, or something.
And considering that each season seems to be only 3 or 4 episodes, we'll probably see her next week...

LOL, Sollo. Well-played.
I haven't watched the ep yet, but had my suspicions about Starbuck's fate. They had to do something as she was becoming incredibly unlikeable.
Edit: Watched it this evening. The flat out best episode this season.

P O S S I B L E S P O I L E R S Well Starbuck's not a toaster (from what I've heard), and she's definitely not in the rest of the season as her last episode of filming was "Maelstrom" (the last one). As for the ejector button scene, Katee did not actually shoot that scene at all, that was all done in editing with the second unit people. So....unfortunately Starbuck is gone this season. Katee is still under contract (so I've been told), but until they start filming again, no one knows for sure what exactly is happening. She is filming a pilot I believe, but that might be listed under second pick for her(which means if she has to do BSG she can't do the pilot show). SciFi is going to be making a 2hr BSG movie to be shown sometime in the Fall I believe, and then season 4 kicks off next January with only 13episodes Personally I want them to continue on with the Mandala arc as Starbuck finding "Nirvana." They could go sooo many different ways with that, and still be able to bring Starbuck back. But I'm not busy racking my brain over it yet because nothing for season 4 is set in stone.

Possible Spoilers, but if you've seen the preview for the season finale you know as much as I do. * * * * * * * * * * * * Are Anders, the president's press secretary and Tigh three of the remaining cylons? Is that why they were so out of sorts in this ep? Hearing that music. Not sleeping. Wonder who the other two are?
Oh, the irony that Tigh killed his wife for collaborating with his own race. Perfect plot twist. Of course, this is all speculative right now. Previews are often deliberately misleading.

I'm betting Starbuck is one of the "Final Five" Cylons. Besides the much-debated discussions about the multi-colored "Nova/Nebula" painting etc., for those of us who have seen the original BSG series, the original BSG sound of the cylons (not the "by your command" but the scanner-sounding, low-pitched ping) is completely obvious in the soundtrack at the instant that Starbuck's MkII blows (and that oddly-mysterious flash of light engulfs her!). Talk about hitting us over the head with a brick!

H Jar told me that Entertainment Weekly made a reference like "of all the people, why him?"
Interesting thoughts on the music they were hearing btw. I figured it was a hint about an old earth transmission, but maybe it's a cylon activation code.

(Apparently, bricks don't work on me ) And, Presort, I too thought that the "song" Tigh, Anders and (that other woman - gods help me I can't remember her name) was an old earth transmission. Kind of a tribute to the original series when the Glactica keeps picking up snippets of the first US moon landing, but like you, I have come to believe it is a cylon activation code. Cool!

Well, well, WELL!
Yay! Starbuck's back! Or is she? Is that our Starbuck? Didn't we see her Viper blow up? Or was it a Cyclon ship that blew up? Did Lee just assume it was her ship that he saw exploding?
Jimi Hendrix?!? WTF???
Baltar acquitted? Interesting. And now spirited away by some group of people (all female, from what we've seen so far) who think he's some sort of saint. Bizarre.
I'm gonna miss his lawyer. That dude rocked. B-)

I liked the lawyer too. He did a great job and I loved the cane prop, should have seen it coming. This was an interesting episode. Two different sets of Carl Jung references, the shared dreams and the shared song. Sad we have to wait a 9+ months. At least we get a movie between now and then.

I think there's a possibility that Lee is imagining Starbuck. That would explain where her ship came from as well as how she was blipping all over the place and vanishing off his radar entirely.
I also believe that Lee gave a fantastic speech at the trial. I was on the side of the blood thirsty crowd but Lee's speech jerked my chain completely around to the other side of the camp.
Let's assume that Starbuck is actually back. She said she found earth and was actually there. That brings to mind more questions:
1. What was the stunt with her ship blowing up? 2. If she actually died in the explosion, which is hard to deny, then the only way I can see her being back is if she's a Cylon. 3. If she IS a Cylon and she found earth, then should we assume that the other Cylons also know where Earth is? 4. If they do, why are they bothering to follow the human fleet covertly? Why not just forget the fleet and pay a visit to Earth? This suggests that the Cylons do NOT know where earth is and makes it far less likely that Starbuck is a Cylon. The only way I can see her being one is if she is doing an Athena gig and siding with the humans.

Really fun episode. The last several minutes were very visually creative. And I loved the Jimi Hendrix remix. The end felt like a brand spankin' new beginning.
Can't tell you how much I will love it if Tigh really is a cylon.

SPOILER ALERT!! * * * * I think there's a possibility that Lee is imagining Starbuck. The only way I can see her being one is if she is doing an Athena gig and siding with the humans. 1. I think she is the last of the Final Five, assuming Anders, Tigh, the President's Assistant, and Tyrol are the other 4. If Kara IS the final Cylon, it might be that her model/she is the 'Imperious Leader' [from the original series' term]. If that's the case, and since we know the rank and file Cylons don't have really any interaction with the Final Five, it follows that there is some other 'caste' level of Cylons or Cylons operating independently 'above' the rank and file types. Since the 'regular' models clearly have lots of captured ships, it'd be easy to stick another Thrace model into one and pull that stunt. 2. Yes. [above] 3. I'd say you couldn't assume it if you accept the argument I put out above. The "Tier 2" Cylon [secret] society seems to have goals and aims a bit different from the "Tier 1" toasters, so it might not suit them to let the minions know the Masters' secrets. I know Morbs and I feel that way about OUR minions--especially those Bone Horrors [LMAO]. And maybe her statement about knowing where Earth is is part of a trick... 4. See the 'trick' comment! But the 'pulling an Athena' thing makes sense, too.
Here's a potential kicker: what if the "Final Five" is some kind of non-literal euphemism for--or some act that is being put on by--the last survivors of Kobol?! *They* presumably know where Earth is, since they sent the 13 tribes out on their exodus. *They* were an advanced technology civilization that seems to have been more spiritual than the Colonials...and we all knwo the Cylons evolved from Toasters invented by Man into these spiritual beings. An interesting thought...

I don't know where Jimi Hendrix came from (although his band did have a cover at one point), but the song that the cylons were hearing was Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower." The cylons were even singing the lyrics to it during the episode. Bear McCreary arranged it, and had his brother sing it. I thought it was pretty cool, and it should be on the season 3 soundtrack I was so looking forward to the season finale's last few minutes to see Starbuck again. By the way, Starbuck is alive and she'll be back in the 4th (and possibly last) season. Tigh, Tori, Tyrol, and Anders are 4 of the last 5 "unknown" cylons, so that still leaves us with one (possibly 2) cylons left (not sure if Ron/David will plop another one in there from "Earth."). There is also now at least 2 cylon/human beings, Hera and Nicholas. We are also getting a full 4th season in 2008 . The 2hr movie that will air sometime in October-December is not going to continue right after the finale, however it will feature the Battlestar Pegasus, and I've heard Admiral Cain (Michelle Forbes) will be coming back ;D.

Yep, Dylan wrote "Watchtower", but Jimi Hendrix's version is probably more famous. McCreary said this on his blog: "I learned [from Ron Moore] that the idea was not that Bob Dylan necessarily exists in the characters' universe, but that an artist on one of the colonies may have recorded a song with the exact same melody and lyrics. Perhaps this unknown performer and Dylan pulled inspiration from a common, ethereal source. Therefore, I was told to make no musical references to any 'Earthly' versions, Hendrix, Dylan or any others. The arrangement needed to sound like a pop song that belonged in the Galactica universe, not our own." Interesting stuff.

Yeah... I have fallen in love with the song "All along the watchtower" ...and I can't believe how many remakes there are... its most known for The Jimi Hendrix Experience... but I don't really like that version... the Bob Dylan's version is really is the best... but there another version I have witch is pretty good... but I don't know who it is ^_^ I still think Starbuck's a cylon Cause we saw the ship blow up... we never saw her... but we saw the ship... and apparently the cylons had one viper So... if Starbuck is a cylon... and the final five can be reborn... yeah... But what do you think of earth? Can it really take more than 1 season to find it when Starbuck knows? And its near our time... cause theres no pangea... but is it in the present? What do you guys think?

I'm quite fond of the version of All Along the Watchtower by True Sounds of Liberty, but then it brings back fond memories for me of young rebellion and teenage angst and all that stuff punk rock is supposed to evoke
