What a GREAT episode!! The jump sequence with Galactica (you know the one I mean) was spectacular. I was on the edge of my seat so much that my wife noticed and asked me what I was doing. I couldn't help myself. And great drama. The thing with Starbuck's daughter turned out just as I suspected. That scene at the end with Tigh was well played. Forever in Adama's shadow -- man... Shoot, the whole ep was well-acted and wonderfully written. And I SO agree with your sentiment, Sollo! These guys know how to write some great TV. I can remember so many ST:TNG two-parters that fizzled out in the second episode. BSG shows everyone how it's done!

SPOILER ALERT!!
SPOLIER ALERT!!
Agreed--that was some of the most well-done television in modern memory. This writing and creative team is brilliant, plain and simple. I still think losing Pegasus might be a weird and bad thing (I mean, from a military perspective, they really should've jumped in with the bigger/better battlestar for the rescue op...then again, maybe Galactica is smaller but tougher?), but I'm kinda learning to trust the writers!

Right Eld... Great episode
What an awsome tatical and conceptually exciting scene that was for us couch bound Viper pilots with that drop into the atmosphere... talk about a good old cavalry charge to the rescue.
And man could I feel that scene with Tigh and his wife, I felt so bad for him and (her even in the end).
Then Apollo steaming straight into the heart of the fray with guns blazing was intense.
Each scene, each segment, each month, each season I wonder how can they possibly match or excel the latter but they do in this series and it just keeps getting better.

I agree. This was one of the best single episodes ever. We pulled in down from iTunes and watched it back-to-back it was so cool. In addition to everything already mentioned, I enjoyed seeing many story lines get wrapped up. Question: Is Baltar now going to fly along with the cylons and help track down the humans like his predecessor did in the original series? Will he become 'twisted and evil, more machine now than man?'

Question: Is Baltar now going to fly along with the cylons and help track down the humans like his predecessor did in the original series? Will he become 'twisted and evil, more machine now than man?' I saw a preview a couple weeks ago that suggested he was gonna find out that he was a cylon. I could have mis-understood or maybe the preview was for a few weeks out... Even if he rides along as a regular human, I can't see a way that he could gain authority over the current skin-heads. They'd have to come up with an incredible plot twist to pull that one off. Just last week they wanted to shoot him just for the hell of it...

They showed that preview again. Looks like next week we'll get a clue if Baltar is a cylon or not.
Was a very good episode tonight again. At the end, I think the president made the only good decision she could have made on the issue of war crimes.

Yes, a brilliant decision on her part. Every human life is precious at this point, and they can't allow themselves to be distracted with wild accusations and witch hunts. A very good episode.

Baltar has to be a cylon. I'm totally convinced. Did anyone else notice that he has a sample of the tainted blood? I wonder what he plans to do with it? Also, Six KNOWS that he lied about what he saw on the other base ship. Should be interesting seeing how that plays out... As I watch BSG, I find myself playing a game that goes like this; If some character were to die, how cool would it be if they turned out to be a cylon? Today I wondered about Colonel Tigh. If he drank himself to death and woke up as a cylon, how much fun would that be? The previews showed that the humans find the dead base star and they almost certainly take blood samples of the virus. I think the cylons are in for a VERY bad time...

I can't believe I forgot that! I even watched it in slow motion to be sure I got all the moves exactly right. Acting looks like fun...

Just watched the four first episodes of season 1 on DVD, and I honestly think it's pretty boring. What do you see in BSG that I obviously don't?

Just watched the four first episodes of season 1 on DVD, and I honestly think it's pretty boring. What do you see in BSG that I obviously don't? It started a little slow. Now that we are a few seasons into this, they have built a good plot line with suspense and intrigue. It's not unlike a soap, but better. Also, for those of us that saw the original series from the 70's, the first few episodes were hard to swallow because they deviated so much from the original story.

Yeah -- that's why I stopped watching it... it didn't match the memories -- and clashed so much with my vintage BSG bedsheets I had as a kid

I read they've been picked up for a 4th season, but for only 13 episodes.

I read they've been picked up for a 4th season, but for only 13 episodes. Yup. And I don't trust SciFi. If they think they can make more money by canceling a critically acclaimed, beloved series in the middle of the plotline to develop another fledgling series, they'll do it.

The 13 eps next season is pure crap, because they're making a dvd BSG movie...that could have been 2 episodes with a full 20ep season :/ Hopefully SciFi won't screw up Painkiller Jane now.
