Okay, I know some of us here watch the show Lost (8PM EST, Wed, on ABC). About time I make a thread about it.
The show is really getting intense now. I thought it was big when Ethan got killed, but dang! Tonight's episode (4/6/05) was...was just wow! I won't spoil it for anyone (for now at least), but I must say, very dramatic. The thing that really got me, the preview for the next few episodes, did I see that right?
Anyone else on this?

Well since we're not spoiling the show for others I don't know that we can speculate without being as cryptic as the show is... I mean yeah I saw that as well and I think you're right, but they cut the teasers to make you think that when it's really something just the opposite (usually).

I guess maybe we should talk about the plot and stuff, cause it's going to get spoiled for most people within a day of the episode by friends/schoolmates/coworkers.
I figured the teasers were cut, but it really made me want to know what happened, especially with Lock (sp?), he's getting weirder and weirder. I know Lock compares the hatch being shut to being shut out by his own father, but why is he having all those weird visions and stuff, why did he not stay with Boone?

Since I watch Alias I was going to watch Lost. I saw the first episode, and missed the second. Figured I'd wait till they started repeating them...however I missed the reapeats. So now I'm going to wait for the dvd to come out. ANd it's really pathetic since it is on right before ALias...I'm just time challenged

Great episode. Pay attention to the details. In the flashbacks, the woman (I won't identify her so as not to spoil the ep) is wearing a shirt with the number 44 on it. There are currently 44 survivors of the crash. I love things like that! For tons more tidbits, visit the Lost pages at TV Tome. Fair warning: they contain MAJOR spoilers if you haven't seen the episodes yet. In my book, Lost and the new Battlestar Galactica are the two best shows on TV. (Hmm, maybe we need a BSG thread because its season finale is definitely worthy of some comment.)

Lost's appeal. For me the reason for liking Lost, 24, BSG, and the first few seasons of Alias is the character development. I love it when the writers take the characters and drop them into different situations, and see how they react. Especially when the outcome is not certain. For Lost and BSG, the episode plot is secondary to character development and overall show plot. Thus the appeal of Alias before that show went to a one hour wrapped up box. (I enjoyed the Rambaldi storyline)
Take shows like Lost, 24, and maybe BSG, where main characters are killed. Wow! Makes you wonder what else can happen. Doing this can confuse the casual viewer, and often lead to a reduction in ratings, but what a plus for the dedicated viewers.
Back to Lost. The show currently is all about the character backstories. It takes each of the characters and presents a wonderful story about what each of them did before the crash and how their lives intersected prior to the crash. Am I concerned about the polar bear? No. Am I concerned about the hatch? No. Do I want to know how Locke ended up in a wheel chair? Yes. When did Hurley get his nickname? Yes.
All of the character intersections make me do a doubletake during some of life's more ordinary situations: ordering fast food, picking up drycleaning, and boarding flights. When will I see these people again... Maybe Llama and I will unknowingly end up on the same cruise liner and be sucked up by the Bermuda Triangle. The truth is stranger than fiction.
