Can't remember if the red stuff was in the book (been too long since I've read it)-- if it was that may explain why it's not explained in the movie. Wells had a habit of skipping over technicalities if he wasn't sure as to the specifics on how it would/could happen/work.

The only thing I really remember about the book is that it was more of an even fight. The martians were winning but the humans were able to take out a machines here or there with canons and stuff.
Wait I also remember in the book it was a big deal that the martians had one flying machine.

There was no fungus/human blood works remains in the book. I just did a quick read thru (i.e. checking out for the finer points and I couldent see it. Aslo running off my memory of the whole book I can recall it there.

So many movies to watch, so little time (okay I have lots of time, just I dont wanna go on my own, and my friends suck). I mean, WotW, Batman Begins, Fantastic 4, Sin City. Ooooh and not to forget Hairy Pothead coming out fairly soon.
Heh, on the topic of films, and also games. Im looking forward to seeing how good (or bad) the Halo movie will be, Fox and Universal are handling it. Fox is doing the overseas stuff and Universal is doing the N. American. They took the scripts to the different studios by hand, by people dressed as Master Chief, which must have rocked!
