I loved the original, too! But, like Battestar Galactice, this won't be your momma's Night Stalker.

I liked the original Night Stalker. I think it re-runs on Sci-Fi every now and then, and ohhh is it campy! I'm hoping it sucks just so it will not devert my attention away from Guild Wars. As for Night Gallery, I remember one episode that highlighted an earwig. I did not sleep that night.

Never watched the original - surprisingly, 'cause it's clearly my kind of show. I guess this will give me the opportunity to check out the updated show without any bias. I'm always skeptical of remakes, but look how great Star Trek: TNG and Battlestar Galactica turned out to be. ;D

(I'm sure someone will find the link...). It didn't go over too well, probably because they were too true to the original, which wasn't stellar by any means... Just because it has a vampire dosen't make it any less of a soap opera. I liked the equally short lived series based on the Vampire RP game, but again there dosen't seem to be too much interest for prime time vampires and the big networks...

Forever Knight was way cool. Used to watch it late at night.....
I think that the success of Lost (which is somehow always categorized as sci-fi/fantasy despite the creators' assertions that Lost is not either of those...) has opened the big networks' eyes to the possibilities of drawing in new viewers by adding genre shows to their schedules. I am interested in several new series, like Fathom, which have premieres on the Big 3 this fall. If even one of the new genre shows is interesting and entertaining, I'll be happy.
You know what was a great sci-fi show - Space: Above and Beyond. It lasted a whole season on Fox. Anyone remember it?

Nah, I don't watch TV either really. Just the Daily Show and Law and Order and certainly not every day.
I've never heard of these shows they're discussing.

Yes it was good. Never figured out why it didn't make it. Maybe the corny christmas show where Santa Clause (or whatever it was suppose to be) rescued them. (I hope I'm thinking of the right show)

Am I the only one who does not watch TV I watch new eps of Alias when it's on...that's about it for me. That and my "metal shows" which don't air regularly ok totally OT, but I don't know what else to say about Kolchak

You know what was a great sci-fi show - Space: Above and Beyond. It lasted a whole season on Fox. Anyone remember it? S:A&B was great and is sorely missed, along with Forever Night ( "Damn you, Nicolas..."), Kolchak (Hah! On-topic reference!), and Highlander: The Series. What I'm worried about is an over-saturation of genre shows, which may make viewers weary of all of them, including the especially good ones like Lost and BSG. But the best of the best of the sorely missed that was cancelled before its time was Firefly. The movie is gonna kick ass.

(getting my OT reference in early) I worry about oversaturation too, and don't expect that many genre shows will make it past the first cut. Mass audiences are really fickle. But I worry more about networks canceling quality programming without warning. Case in Point: Farscape. Another Example: B5 almost getting canned after the 4th year. That sort of behavior, especially when we're talking about shows with a well-planned story-arc, really, really frosts me!

I thought SAB&B was on for 2 seasons... hmm.. luckly I saw the lasty episode of it, so at least there was some closure there... and no I didn't forget Knight, but it wasn't on NBC/ABC/CBS whereas Dark Shadows was (I think, ok mabye not the latest version, I don't remember)...
As for Kolchak, I only really ever saw it as part of 'Brilliant, but Cancled' on *a network that was hence forth cancled from my satellite*... (grrr... can't remember name of channel... grrr....), but it is a cool show so there is hope for the new version...
Hey, I liked the new 'Fantsy Island' when I saw it on SciFi, so it could all be good...

That new thing "Lost" is pretty good. Pity my mum only set it to tape the second episode when they were showing the first two in a row, so I have no idea what happened in the first episode. But hey, polar bears in jungles are cool.
