Chances are if you clicked on this post you are interested in the BGN rules--sorry we don't have any. We have a gaming philosophy and that is "have fun". All the rest is commentary--now go read it. Oh, one reminder--no matter where you were raised, be it the busy streets of NYC, the wheat fields of Kansas or frozen tundra of the Great White North--there are universal codes of politeness and please abide by them on the message board and in your GW dealings (especially if you belong to the Beguine Guild). If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact myself ( 1jane.doe@gmail.com) or one of the other board founding members: Yoko Nishi, The Unclean, or Asya Mordina (via the boards message system). Enjoy your stay on BGN boards and if you like what you see think about joining us in our grand adventures. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now back your regularly scheduled message thread... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guild Rules that is an interesting concept. In one place, where I listed BGN, it asked if we were good, evil, or neutral (http://www.rpgstars.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=340) . I listed neutral only because I don't really know. So I guess my question is what kind of guild do we want to be? And what rules do we want--if any? Please, oh please, no rules against cussing while battling--sometimes a good F-bomb can really break the stress--don't you agree?

Here is your exact post, link is to 1st page, had to go to 7th Beguine (BGN) Guild 1. Neutral 2. bgnguild.proboards36.com/index.cgi3. Oct. 30, 2004 4. Biblia Indagatrix 5. Indagatrix 6. Yes 7. Open guild. Has been inviting strong players that have found each other while adventuring. Ladies of the guild like to invite males to join quest/exploring trips in unique ways. You'll know us when you see us. 8. Yes --will be viewable at our site in a few days. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmm, rules? Maybe general stuff, like no hacking (if it's possible), and I don't know, stuff... Swearing is fine, lol, but it doesn't need to be used in every sentence or anything, I believe you had the right idea, to break stress

Not so much a rule, but perhaps a suggestion... crafting items, weapons, skill charms, etc. to guild members first? Then sell/trade with non-aligned players (mabye they'll join).. then sell/trade to other guilds...

No badgerring. Especially during a quest. "Hey can I have that sword?" "Come on, give it to me." "What are you going to do with it?" "I could really use that sword." "How about if you sell it to me?" "Did I mention that I could use that sword..."
or in the middle of a battle "Darn I'm dead. Could someone resurect me?" "Hey, I'm dead over here!" "Come on I don't care if I am surrounded by bad dudes, just resurect me." "Stop trying to kill the boss and bring me back to life." "Hey you ran right past me. You could have undeaded me." "Yo' I'm talkin' to you. I'M DEAD OVER HERE!" "I hope you die too so you will know what it feels like to just sit over here and watch others play."
Also, team player. If you wanted to play by yourself, then don't join a guild. Example, warrior that constantly runs ahead and doesn't heed a "wait" call. Spell casters need a chance to recharge. Or a monk who constantly runs into battle instead of hanging back and healing.

Thought of another rule, obvious, but we should probably state it: The person has to play at least one map with a couple of existing members.

All good ideas so far--I especially like the idea of staying with the group--waiting 5 seconds for item pick up, heal, or cast isn't going to ruin a quest.

Ok, so I've thought of my previous post and read the current comments, and I believe that no-one currently in the guild behaves in such a manner, so I guess these would be guidelines for prospective members... I mean if you've been asked to join our guild it is because you ran a map or quest with a member(s) and you acted cool to us. If your behavior changes I'm sure we reserve the right to kick you from the guild or you can always leave of your own free will... I mean if you joined, you should want to share with other members first; If we asked you, it's probably because you have a polite playing style... I know the only real annoying people were the warriors in other guilds who kept dropping us on that sucidal prince quest...

The evil prince quest! That was fun, me hates Charr like Gollum hates Hobbiteses!
Ahem, um, yeah, anyway... I think these are all great things, all of them were in my mind, but the main thing is having fun, not having a 100 page rules packet, right?

Fun--yes! The main reason I initially posted the Rules thread was because well--it said "Guild Rules" at the top--but also because I noticed some guilds with very detailed rules--I have enough rules at work and really don't want a lot in my leisure time. I just wanted to make sure we all had the same gaming philosophy--and I think we do...
So maybe we should change this to Guild Philosophy (instead of rules)? Which would include: 1) Have fun. 2) Play well with others. 5) Trade well with guild members. ... 3) Relax--it's only a game.
and subpoint 5a) Let the Prince die at least once because he deserves it--suicidal SOB!
am I missing anything?

okay, sorry, just kinda set rules as a general thing, I too saw that other guilds had big rules. I like the philosophies better, I can change the "Guild Rules/ Announcements" to just 'Guild Announcements' or something else if you want.
lol, 5a, stupid prince, let him die, but the singer Prince is cool?

Great rules, er, philosophies. I can live with those.
I don't care for power-hungry obey-your-elder sort of rules. Having a leader is good, or even a leader for each guild grouping is good, but endless hierarchies (sp?) is kind of lame, at least for me.
Who's the prince and why should he die? I know the story that Asya wrote included a prince...

The Prince--is a suicidal twit who have to "protect" on one quest---but he just keeps charging ahead unto nasty nasty monsters--even though 1/2 the party is dead! 3 of us tried initially to do the Prince quest and several times with so called "warriors" we picked up--although we had the best luck with a little french warrior who wanted to "protect me" (wink wink nudge nudge) we never succeeded at the quest until the magnificent Yoko joined us.
We can take you through it next weekend if you want--

Having a leader is good, or even a leader for each guild grouping is good, but endless hierarchies (sp?) is kind of lame, at least for me. Lame indeed, I suppose a hierarchy is essential for something like ... oh i dunno ... the ARMY maybe? That said there are lotsa guilds that adhere to that kinda structure and that's great! I'm just glad "have fun" is the only rule here so far LOL

Your rules set forth are easily abidable especially Inda's subpoint 5a) about that darned Prince (race horse on crack) going on with things like:"This way... ,Onward we must..., Make haste...) I've tried a couple times to hit him with Pin Down shot but he's too fast :

>:(The Suicide Prince is very annoying, no wonder his father does not like him. When half the party gets killed off, you don't know whether you should kill the prince off to restart the game or let him do it himself!! He does make the story very confusing. ???Slow down spells do not work on the prince either, I personally think tis a conspiracy!!
